How Did Adele’s Career Start?

Adele is an internationally-acclaimed multi-platinum award winning singer and songwriter from Tottenham, England. She has sold millions of records since her career began in 2006, and has become a household name. But how did Adele’s career start?

Finding Her Voice

At the tender age of 4, Adele discovered her passion for music and was encouraged to start taking singing lessons. At the age of 11 she attended the BRIT School in London, which is a high school focused on performing and creative arts. After taking multiple music classes and performing with local youth bands, Adele started to discover her true vocal capabilities and began to craft her own style of distinctive vocals.

The making of an Icon

Adele’s career began to take off in 2006 when her friend posted a three-song demo on Myspace.com. This allowed record labels to take notice and soon enough records labels such as XL Recordings and Columbia quickly capitalized on the hype. By the end of 2007, the teenager had announced her own record deal, paving the way for her global success.

From 19 to 2021

Adele released her debut album, 19, in January of 2008, featuring the hit singles “Chasing Pavements” and “Make You Feel My Love”. The album was a success in the UK as well as abroad, and it went on to sell millions of copies worldwide. This opened the door for her to follow-up album, 21, released in 2011. This album was an even bigger success than the previous one, and it featured some of the singer’s most iconic singles, such as “Rolling in the Deep”, “Someone Like You”, and many more. Since then, Adele has released two further albums, 25 and 30, both of which have been critically acclaimed.
