How Did Adele’s Career Start?

Adele Laurie Blue Adkins, professionally known as Adele, is an English singer and songwriter. She rose to fame after the release of her debut album 19 in 2008 and her second album 21 skyrocketed her to global fame. But where did it all begin for Adele?

Early Years

Adele was born in London, United Kingdom on the 5th May 1988. She was raised in Tottenham, London and attended the BRIT School for Performing Arts & Technology. At the age of fourteen, Adele wrote her first song and her passion for music quickly developed.

Early Career

Adele was discovered in 2006 by a friend of hers who uploaded her demo songs to MySpace. Shortly after, XL Recordings signed her. In 2008, at just eighteen years of age, Adele released her debut album, 19, featuring hit singles “Hometown Glory” and “Chasing Pavements”. The album went on to receive critical acclaim and earned Adele several award nominations.

Rise to Fame

It wasn’t until Adele’s second eponymous album, 21, that she really rose to fame. The album, released in 2011, featured lead singles “Rolling in the Deep” and “Someone Like You”. The popularity of 21 skyrocketed, leading to four Grammy Awards, thirteen Billboard Music Awards, and a Brit Award. It also became the best-selling album worldwide in 2011 and 2012.

Adele has achieved massive success in her career, and her legacy shows no signs of stopping. She is set to release her fourth album in December of 2020, which will be her first new album in five years.
